Best Exalate Alternative in 2027: 7 Tools in an Honest Comparison

The best Exalate alternative depends on three things: whether your team wants visual configuration or scripting, which systems you connect, and how you want to pay. For most enterprise teams we recommend Getint. Developers who want everything in code should look at ScriptRunner Connect, and teams that live in Salesforce at Sinergify.

The short answer: which Exalate alternative fits which team

  • Getint fits enterprise teams that want visual configuration, JavaScript for the exceptions, integration and migration in one platform, and a price that doesn't depend on how many items stay in sync.
  • ScriptRunner Connect fits a technical team with developers who want a code-first integration platform in JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Unito fits no-code two-way sync between work management tools.
  • ZigiOps fits IT operations teams that connect service management with monitoring and DevOps tools without code.
  • OpsHub Integration Manager fits engineering organizations with ALM and PLM toolchains.
  • Backbone Work Sync fits one job: Jira integration with another Jira.
  • Sinergify fits teams that want Salesforce Jira integration managed inside Salesforce.

What Exalate offers, and where it stops

Exalate is a capable integration solution. It launched in 2014 in Antwerp as a Jira-to-Jira connector and now connects Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Zendesk, GitHub and a range of ITSM tools.

What makes Exalate different is its decentralized architecture. A node is installed on every connected system, and each side writes its own incoming and outgoing sync rules. Each organization controls what leaves and what enters its system, without sharing ownership of the configuration.

The scripting engine is the centre of the product. Simple cases start in a visual mode. Once you need custom logic, you move to script mode, and from then on the sync logic lives in Groovy scripts.

Exalate Classic vs New Exalate

Exalate now comes in two forms.

  • Exalate Classic has a console inside each connected system and is billed per side: you pay for the Jira connector, then separately for the connector on the other side.
  • New Exalate adds a central console, an AI assistant called Aida, Test Run, script versioning and rollback. It is billed per integration, by the number of items in active sync.

Both use the same sync engine, the same nodes and the same Groovy scripts. New Exalate changes how integrations are managed and priced. It does not change the script-first operating model.

Why enterprise teams look for an Exalate alternative

Teams usually start looking for an Exalate alternative for one of four reasons.

  • Scripting and ongoing maintenance. Advanced integration logic is written as separate incoming and outgoing scripts. Someone has to write, test and maintain them, so the maintenance effort lands on developers. When that person leaves, the next one has to learn every script before changing anything.
  • Setup effort on both sides. Because a node runs on each system, both parties install and configure something. In a cross-company integration, one small mapping change needs coordination between two teams.
  • Active-item pricing. New Exalate's Starter plan is a low cost entry at $100 a month per integration, but it covers 25 active items. Scale is $325 for 100 items, and Pro starts at $550 a month, billed annually. When you reach the limit, new items stop syncing until you unlink old ones or upgrade.
  • Support terms. Starter and Scale come with support with no SLA.

1. Getint: visual-first enterprise integration and data synchronization

Getint is a visual-first integration platform for enterprise systems, with scripting when you need it.

Getint connects Jira, Jira Service Management, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Zendesk, GitHub, GitLab, Asana, Monday.com, ClickUp and more. Almost 6,000 companies use it, including 16 of the Fortune 500.

It is installed once, on the Jira side, or runs standalone as SaaS or on-premise. One interface configures both ends, so the other company doesn't have to install anything. It works with Jira Cloud and Data Center.

Bidirectional sync in the UI, conditional logic when you need it

Most integration requirements are handled in the UI: types, fields, statuses, comments, attachments, hierarchies, user mappings and filters. Quick Build auto-matches types, fields and values. You choose one-way or bidirectional sync for each integration, and set the direction per field.

When the UI isn't enough, runtime JavaScript adds conditional logic, dynamic transformations and custom logic for complex workflows. Scripts sit on top of the visual configuration. They don't replace it, so business and technical teams can still read the same setup.

If both sides edit the same item at once, Getint merges the changes. If one system goes down, Getint resumes from the moment sync stopped.

Historical data migration

Migration is a product capability, not a scripting project. You migrate historical data by creation or update date, by item ID or by filter, then keep both systems in sync. Integration and migration projects run on one platform.

Monitoring, security and access

  • Detailed logs for every run, flow and item, available to every customer
  • Automatic retries for transient failures and API limits, plus resync for single items or whole integrations
  • Alerts in-app, by email, Slack and webhooks
  • SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27018, GDPR compliance, data residency and on-premise deployment (security)
  • Role-based access control, with access to specific integrations for specific Jira groups

Pricing

For Jira integration, Getint follows Atlassian Marketplace pricing by Jira user tier. There are no active-item or transaction limits. Comments, status changes and repeated updates don't increase the price, and there is no second connector to buy on the other side. That is what we mean by predictable pricing.

Where it doesn't fit

Getint has no ready connectors for niche ITSM tools such as TOPdesk, Ivanti, SolarWinds or HaloITSM, although custom development of a connector is possible on request. Standard Cloud integrations run every three minutes by default, so updates arrive within seconds to minutes rather than instantly. And if each company must own its own scripts independently, Exalate's model fits that better.

Teams that moved from Exalate describe the switch in the Pathlock and Kaluza case studies.

2. ScriptRunner Connect: a code-first integration platform for developers

ScriptRunner Connect is a code-first integration platform from the team behind ScriptRunner.

Developers write integrations in JavaScript or TypeScript in a browser editor, with pre built connectors that handle authentication and a generic connector for any HTTP API. It runs as a standalone cloud platform with EU or US data residency, so nothing is installed inside the connected systems.

Pricing. A flat monthly fee by number of connected systems: Starter at $299 for up to 2 connections, Professional at $599 for up to 4, Business at $899 for up to 6, and Enterprise at $2,499 for unlimited connections. There is a 30-day free trial, and annual billing gives 12 months for the price of 10.

Where it fits. A technical team that wants full control and already thinks in code. If you like Exalate's flexibility but prefer JavaScript to Groovy, and one central platform to a node on each side, this is the closest match.

Where it doesn't fit. Everything is a script, so every integration is code that someone has to write, test and maintain. Because the configuration is code, it is harder for business users to review.

We compare the two approaches in ScriptRunner Connect vs Getint.

3. Unito: no-code two-way sync for work management tools

Unito is a no-code two way sync platform with more than 60 connectors, aimed at work management tools.

You build flows between two tools and set rules and field mappings in the UI. Self-serve Basic and Pro plans cover standard cloud connectors, update every 5 to 15 minutes, and come with chat and email support.

Pricing. Unito prices by items in sync, and each item synced between two tools counts as two. Exact self-serve prices are shown in the app during the trial. If you go over your limit, flows keep running and the plan is upgraded automatically at the next billing cycle.

Where it fits. Marketing, product and operations teams syncing tools such as Asana, Trello, Jira and Smartsheet without involving developers.

Where it doesn't fit. ServiceNow, Salesforce, Jira Data Center and on-premise Jira are premium connectors, available only on specific Enterprise plans. Like Exalate, the price grows with the number of items you keep in sync.

More detail in Unito vs Getint.

4. ZigiOps: no-code integration for IT operations

ZigiOps, from ZigiWave, is a no-code integration platform focused on IT operations.

It connects ITSM, monitoring, DevOps and CRM systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, Salesforce, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace and Splunk, in both directions, starting from predefined templates. Its Atlassian Marketplace listing states unlimited users and no limit on the number of transferred entities.

Pricing. ZigiOps doesn't publish prices; you need a quote.

Where it fits. IT operations teams that want incidents, alerts and change requests to flow between a service desk and monitoring tools without scripting.

Where it doesn't fit. Teams that need a public price list before talking to sales.

Getint vs Exalate

5. OpsHub Integration Manager: integration for ALM and PLM toolchains

OpsHub Integration Manager is a bidirectional integration platform with a strong focus on ALM and PLM tools.

It is configured through a GUI and supports more than 70 systems, including Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Jama, Rally, IBM DOORS and Codebeamer. It can be deployed on-premise, in your own cloud, or in OpsHub's cloud.

Pricing. A free Community Edition covers bidirectional sync between Jira and a set of tools including ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Rally and Jira Align. Commercial editions add more systems and are quoted on request.

Where it fits. Engineering organizations whose toolchain reaches beyond Jira and ServiceNow into requirements, test and product lifecycle tools.

Where it doesn't fit. Teams that want an install-and-go Marketplace app. The app listing alone isn't enough; OpsHub Integration Manager itself has to be deployed as well.

6. Backbone Work Sync: Jira to Jira only

Backbone Work Sync, from K15t (formerly Backbone Issue Sync), synchronizes work items between Jira instances.

It runs as a Jira app and covers Jira Cloud and Data Center, including setups where one instance sits behind a firewall.

Where it fits. Two companies or two departments that both use Jira and only need Jira-to-Jira sync.

Where it doesn't fit. Anything other than Jira on both sides. If you might add ServiceNow, Azure DevOps or Salesforce later, you will need a second tool.

See Backbone or Getint for a direct comparison.

7. Sinergify: Salesforce Jira integration inside Salesforce

Sinergify is a Salesforce-native Jira connector.

Its integration logic runs inside Salesforce. Support agents escalate a case to a Jira issue and follow status changes and comments without leaving Salesforce. Configuration is no-code, and it supports Jira Cloud and on-premise Jira.

Pricing. Sinergify lists subscription pricing from $2.50 per user per month.

Where it fits. Teams whose daily work happens in Salesforce and whose only requirement is Salesforce and Jira.

Where it doesn't fit. Stacks where Salesforce is one of several systems. For Azure DevOps, ServiceNow or other pairs you need a broader integration platform.

What about enterprise iPaaS and automation tools?

Review sites such as G2 list Workato and Zapier among the products most often compared with Exalate. They solve a different problem.

  • Workato, MuleSoft and Boomi are enterprise iPaaS products, designed to connect multiple applications across a whole company. They are powerful and expensive, and a two-way ticket sync is something you build on them, not something you configure.
  • Zapier and Make are excellent for connecting many simple apps with one-way triggers and actions. They are not designed for deep, continuous data synchronization between complex systems. See Zapier vs Getint and Make vs Getint.

If the requirement is "keep these two systems continuously in sync", a specialist tool is usually the shorter path.

Best Exalate alternative by use case

Jira and Azure DevOps

Getint connects Jira and Azure DevOps in both directions, with work item types, fields, statuses, comments and attachments mapped in the UI. Lufthansa and Škoda Auto run this integration with Getint, and Pathlock moved to it from Exalate. See the Jira Azure DevOps integration page. ScriptRunner Connect and Unito also cover this pair.

Jira and ServiceNow

Getint, ZigiOps and OpsHub all support Jira and ServiceNow. Airbus and Deloitte use Getint for it. See the Jira ServiceNow integration page. In Unito, ServiceNow is a premium connector on Enterprise plans.

Salesforce Jira integration

There are two ways to approach Salesforce Jira integration.

  • Inside Salesforce. A native connector such as Sinergify keeps the logic and the user experience in Salesforce. It suits teams where Salesforce admins own the integration and Jira is the only other system.
  • Alongside Salesforce. A platform such as Getint connects Jira and Salesforce as one pair among many. It suits teams that also sync Jira with Azure DevOps, ServiceNow or Zendesk and want one place for integration management.

HireVue and IATA use Getint for Jira Salesforce integration.

Complex workflows across multiple systems

Large enterprises rarely stop at one pair. For many-to-one and many-to-many projects, condition-based routing and hierarchies, Getint handles the mapping in the UI and leaves JavaScript for the exceptions. ScriptRunner Connect handles the same complexity in code. Enterprises also need access control and no single point of failure: when a Getint admin leaves, a new one can read the configuration instead of a set of scripts.

Pricing models: the real cost of an Exalate alternative

The tools in this article use four pricing models.

  • By items in sync: New Exalate and Unito. Cost rises with the volume of work you keep synchronized.
  • By Jira user tier: Getint. Cost follows the size of your Jira, not the number of synced items.
  • By connected systems: ScriptRunner Connect. Cost follows the number of business systems you connect.
  • Per side: Exalate Classic. You pay for each connector separately.

A concrete example for Jira Cloud with 2,000 users and ServiceNow, per year: Exalate Classic cost $7,000 for the Jira connector plus about $9,900 for the ServiceNow connector, $16,900 in total, based on Exalate's public pricing from September 2023. Getint costs $11,830.

The licence is only the visible part. The real cost includes the people who specify, write, test and maintain the integration. A script-first tool needs developers for every change. A visual-first tool lets an admin make most changes, and keeps developers for the cases that need code.

How to choose an Exalate alternative

Start from the constraint that matters most to you.

  • Business and technical teams should read the same configuration: choose a visual-first tool. Getint, Unito and ZigiOps are configured without code.
  • You want everything in code: ScriptRunner Connect, in JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • You need predictable cost as volume grows: avoid meters on synced items.
  • The other company won't install anything: pick a tool that is configured from one side. Getint and ScriptRunner Connect both work this way.
  • You also need to migrate history: check whether migration is a product feature or a scripting project. In Getint it is a dedicated capability.
  • You run ALM or PLM tools: look at OpsHub Integration Manager.
  • You only sync Jira with Jira: Backbone Work Sync or Getint for Jira to Jira.
  • Your team works in Salesforce: Sinergify.

Then run a trial on a real project. Getint, ScriptRunner Connect and Unito all offer free trials.

When Exalate is still the right choice

Exalate has one real architectural advantage: each organization independently controls what leaves and enters its system, through its own node and scripts.

Stay with Exalate when:

  • Two organizations won't accept central ownership of the integration
  • Each party needs complete independence over its configuration
  • Both parties have Groovy engineers on staff
  • Both accept a script-first build and maintenance model
